How do I Bookmark my exhibits?

Effective January 1, 2017, bookmarking your exhibits on an electronically filed document will be mandatory pursuant to California Rule of Court 3.1110(f).  A bookmark is essentially an electronic exhibit tab. Failure to bookmark your exhibits could result in a rejected filing - but luckily, bookmarking exhibits is very easy!  Just follow the simple steps listed below.  You will need to open your document in a PDF program such as Adobe Acrobat.

  • Once you have opened your document in Adobe Acrobat, scroll down to the first page of your first exhibit. Select the heading or title of the section by dragging your mouse over it, now you may either right-click or use the command CTRL+B.  The Bookmarks panel will open on the left.

  • In the bookmarks panel, type the name of the exhibit and a short description. Now, simply repeat this process until you’ve bookmarked all of the exhibits in your filing.

Repeat as necessary for any remaining exhibits!
