Understanding the court technology vendor connection
In some courts, filers are asked to connect their One Legal accounts to the court technology vendor (also known as the electronic filing manager or EFM) before placing an electronic filing transaction. This creates another extra layer of security and identity verification between the filer and the court.
Illinois, Indiana, and Texas have chosen to use a single court technology vendor for the entire state, meaning that each filer will need to connect to their state's EFM before submitting a document to the court.
California allows each county to select its own technology vendor.
Butte, Calaveras, Fresno, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles (Probate), Merced, Monterey, Napa, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, and Yuba Counties all use eFileCA as their court technology vendor. Filers into these counties are required to connect their accounts to eFileCA.
